A History of Excellence

Six decades of democratizing quality education in Cebu.

1964

Atty. Augusto W. Go and a group of young men established the Cebu College of Commerce (CCC) with an opening enrollment of 239 students.

1972

CCC renamed itself Cebu Central Colleges, expanding its curricular programs to include Nursing, Engineering, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and more.

1983

CCC became the first school in Cebu and Region VII to offer a course in Computer Science.

1991

The Maritime Education and Training Campus (METC) in Alumnos, Mambaling was inaugurated.

1992

Cebu Central Colleges was elevated to university status, becoming the University of Cebu.

1995

The UC Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue Campus was opened under the leadership of Ms. Candice Gotianuy.

2002

UC Banilad Campus was established, offering programs plus the UC School of Law.

2015

The UC School of Medicine was established at UC Banilad.

2019

The UC Banilad Science High School was inaugurated — the only private science high school in the region.

2020

UC acquired St. Paul's College in Pardo to serve students in the southern part of Cebu.

2024

The UC Pardo-Talisay Campus was officially inaugurated on May 24. The UC Jones Campus was formally inaugurated on October 12.

Present

A leading institution with 8 campuses, 65,000+ students, and over 6,000 topnotchers produced in professional and licensure examinations.
