The University of Cebu has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation, social responsibility, and transformative education as five of its institutional programs earned places in the Top 100 of their respective categories in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).
The achievement is particularly significant amid a highly competitive global field. The 2026 WURI cycle evaluated 1,927 higher education institutions from 96 countries, involving 13,211 innovative program entries from universities and colleges worldwide.
WURI evaluates higher education institutions based on their real contributions to industry and society, highlighting innovative initiatives that create meaningful and practical impact beyond traditional academic indicators. The 2026 rankings covered 24 innovation categories focusing on whom universities innovate for, how they pursue innovation, and what areas they seek to transform.
Against this international field, the following University of Cebu programs secured recognition in their respective categories:
- AidVocate: Rank 81 (Future-Oriented Responses to Global Uncertainty and Geopolitical Risk)
- TrackSense: Rank 27 (Infrastructure and Technology)
- BEEHIVE: Rank 41 (Entrepreneurial Culture and Ecosystem)
- AWG's Visionary Leadership: Rank 67 (Visionary Leadership)
- Norwegian Shipowners' Association Philippines Cadetship Program: Rank 81 (Student Support and Engagement)
The inclusion of all five programs in the global Top 100 reflects the University's ability to develop and sustain initiatives that respond to actual challenges faced by students, industries, communities, and society.
These recognitions represent the collective work of the programs' initiators, writers, champions, facilitators, implementers, institutional partners, and members of the University community who transformed innovative ideas into meaningful and sustainable practices.
The University formally honored the individuals and teams behind the globally recognized programs during the WURI 2026 Recognition Ceremony held on May 29, 2026, at the UC-Banilad College Building. The ceremony was organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Business Development and Innovation as part of the University's continuing celebration of its 62nd anniversary.
In her message, Dr. Ofelia G. Mana, Vice Chancellor for Business Development and Innovation, emphasized that the recognition belongs not only to the individuals who conceptualized and documented the programs but also to the entire community that supported their implementation and sustained their impact.
