Three Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students from the University of Cebu–Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) emerged as champions in the Paytaca CASH 3.0 Hackathon 2026, defeating 11 other schools to capture the ₱75,000 grand prize during the two-day competition held August 1–2 at Summit Galleria Cebu.
The winning team, Benedict Avenido, Jade Mykel Ventic, and Argee Paquibot, coached by Benedict Castro, secured the title with ReStart, a blockchain-powered healthcare solution developed using CashScript and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
ReStart strengthens patient-record management by preventing data loss, unauthorized modifications, and duplicate records while enabling healthcare providers to monitor patients’ completion of recovery programs.
The hackathon gathered 12 higher education institutions from across the Visayas, with only six teams advancing to the championship round: UCLM, UC Main Campus, ACT, the University of San Jose–Recoletos, STI College Ormoc, and ACLC College of Ormoc.| via Rhenalyn Versaga
